Corporate Social Responsibility Commitment

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the commitment of a business to consider its impact on society and the environment, and to operate in a responsible way. It is not about being perfect, but about continuously striving to become better. This is our commitment towards our clients to leveraging the climate changes crisis.

In 2022, A&A ATTORNEYS|AVOCATS introduced a Corporate Social Responsibility Policy which applies to all the lawyers and support staff of our Firm.

It may also refer to stakeholders. This policy was implemented to develop a concrete CSR approach, linked to and consistent with A&A ATTORNEYS Code of Ethics.

We seek excellence in every aspect of business and are committed to leverage the social, environmental and ethical impacts of our supply chain. We approach CSR as we approach our business in general: in a well-planned and structured way. We decide which areas to focus on based on input from all our stakeholders, clients and colleagues.

Because we believe that ‘’the price of greatness is responsibility’’, our core values are thought to meet the philosophy that “Corporate social responsibility is measured in terms of businesses improving conditions for their employees, shareholders, communities, and environment. But moral responsibility goes further, reflecting on the need for corporations to address fundamental ethical issues such as inclusion, dignity, and equality”. – Miguel Reynolds Brandão.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy is based on the following three pillars DIVERSITY & INCLUSION, ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY, PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS.

Diversity & Inclusion

Diverse leadership teams make better and more innovative business decisions, leading to improved business performance. Diversity amongst employees is important to us and gender balance is one of our top priorities. We are committed to improving diversity and inclusion within the working environment, safeguarding those who may face inequality or harassment due to one or more of the nine “protected characteristics”: Age| Nationality| Disability and health condition| Gender| Sexual orientation| Race / ethnic group| Religion or belief| Gender reassignment| Marriage or civil partnership| Pregnancy and maternity

Our Law Firm opposes all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination, treating everyone fairly, with respect, and giving equal opportunity in every aspect of the working role of each employee. We recognize that diversity is found in any social identity and that inclusion is the process of involving, accepting, and valuing all people in the workplace regardless of their differences and social identity.

Environmental Responsibility

Our CRS includes a commitment to caring for the environment, and reducing negative and increasing positive environmental impacts; A&A ATTORNEYS|AVOCATS is committed to sustainability and environmentally friendly operations.

Community Responsibility

AAAA preserves a budget to make monetary donations with the aim to sustain arts, culture, education and community events and alleviate those in need through donation to charitable causes or human service agencies. On top of that, AAAA encourages its employees to volunteer and do pro bono activities. They can volunteer through programs organized internally or externally. AAAA also sponsors volunteering events from other organizations.

The application and ultimate responsibility for the commitment to our CSR principles lies with every employee of AAAA and at every level of the organisation, including at the very top, with an explicit willingness to challenge and, where necessary, discipline those who do not follow the policy.

Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions

We endeavor to support the UNDP SDGs within our daily practice. This 14th goal aligns deeply with our philosophy as a Law Firm:

Indeed, according to UNDP GOAL 16, we cannot hope for sustainable development without peace, stability, human rights and effective governance, based on the rule of law. Yet our world is increasingly divided. Some regions enjoy peace, security and prosperity, while others fall into seemingly endless cycles of conflict and violence. This is not inevitable and must be addressed.

Armed violence and insecurity have a destructive impact on a country’s development, affecting economic growth, and often resulting in grievances that last for generations. Sexual violence, crime, exploitation and torture are also prevalent where there is conflict, or no rule of law, and countries must take measures to protect those who are most at risk

The SDGs aim to significantly reduce all forms of violence, and A&A ATTORNEYS is committed to work with governments and communities to end conflict and insecurity. As a leading law firm, we share the vision of promoting the rule of law and human rights which are key to this process, as is reducing the flow of illicit arms and strengthening the participation of developing countries in the institutions of global governance.

A&A ATTORNEYS is therefore committed, in its day-to-day legal practice, to working with its various partners and clients, and with the support of its entire team, to working towards the achievement of the UNDP goal targets under the PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS SDG:

  • Significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere.
  • End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children.
  • Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all (through our pro bono department).
